COMMON CONDITIONS WE TREAT
A WARM NOTE FOR CLIENTS SEEKING TCM CARE
We extend this heartfelt message to those seeking TCM care (especially those transitioning from Western medicine to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), integrating both approaches, or exploring TCM for the very first time): We encourage patience, and an openness to perceiving the body’s gradual internal progress, without haste or overly rigid expectations. Trust and Alignment from the client towards the practitioner help create the best possible conditions for the body’s natural recovery when there is still potential for improvement.
Why does TCM require this mindful approach?
Understanding that Western medicine is grounded in empirical science, Traditional Chinese Medicine, by contrast, is a field of medicine developed through knowledge and clinical experience accumulated and refined over many generations. Based on the philosophy of Yin–Yang, the Five Elements, Qi and Blood, and the meridian system, it views the human body as an integrated whole and focuses on restoring internal balance to enhance the body’s natural resilience, allowing our clients to gradually heal and recover naturally from within—particularly in chronic conditions.
We deeply acknowledge and respect the immense value of Western medicine. Traditional Chinese Medicine does not aim to replace Western medical care, but instead has long served as a complementary approach alongside other treatment modalities. Its value has been demonstrated over thousands of years in the East. This is why we – Ming An TCM have chosen to preserve, develop, and apply Traditional Chinese Medicine in Singapore. Through this dedication, we hope to contribute to a healthier, more resilient Singaporean community, where ancient wisdom and modern insights walk hand in hand to nurture sustainable well-being.
Thank you!
FAQs
Is Acupuncture painful ?
Unlike the thick needles used to draw blood or vaccinations, acupuncture needles are extremely thin (roughly the width of human hair), thus the sensation on insertion is much less obvious.
You might feel a light prick when the needle is inserted and many don’t feel it enter at all. When the needle reaches the correct depth, some might feel a unique sensation know in TCM as De Qi (“得气”), which feels like:-
– a dull, mild ache
– a slight tingling or electric pulse
– a sense if heaviness or warmth
TCM is expensive ?
In most clinics in Singapore, every additional treatment or medication will come as an additional itemised charge.
At Ming An TCM, we strive to make our pricing transparent with no bill shocks. We have a fixed price which is inclusive of consultation fee, treatment and Basic pain medication (if applicable). If there is any further need for additional services, we will consult with our patient upfront before treatment. No bill shock!
What can I expect on my FIRST visit
Your First visit lasts 60 to 90 mins. We take a detailed history, read your pulse, observe your tongue and listen. We take time to answer your queries and build a treatment plan that may include acupuncture, medication, dietary advise and lifestyle practices. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is generic. Everything is about you.
Temporary increase in soreness/ pain after treatment
You may notice a temporary increase in muscle soreness or localised pain within the first 24 to 48 hours after treatment. This is a well-documented normal post-treatment phenomenon. Deep stimulation from therapies like acupuncture, cupping, or tuina intentionally stimulates our muscles, fascia and nervous systems to trigger your body’s natural healing response. This increases blood flow to help relieve chronic tension and release deep tissue blockages. Just like the muscle soreness experienced after an intense workout, this temporary ache occurs as your muscles and nervous system adapt to the stimulation. It is a positive sign that your body’s recovery process has been activated. The discomfort will typically subside after 48 hours, leaving your muscles significantly more relaxed and flexible.
